"Farm Journals" of Francis Brooks of Medford, Mass., containing records of weather, planting and harvesting, work, accounts, and general journal entries. The volumes also contain some tipped-in correspondence, newsclippings, and ephemera. Brooks was the son of Edward Brooks, and grandson of Peter Chardon Brooks, one of the wealthiest men in New England. Francis Brooks married in 1850 Mary Chadwick (she died in 1851), and in 1854 Louise Winsor. He had six children by his second wife. Vol. 1 also contains a brief "farm journal" written by Edward Brooks, 1850-1852.
